Tony Baffoe: Emboss names of players on jerseys.

Founder and General Secretary of the Professional Footballers Association of Ghana (PFAG), Tony Baffoe, has asked Clubs to ensure that names of their players are boldly embossed at the back of their jerseys for easy identification.

Tony who is also a former Black Stars player said it is very difficult for scouts to identify players during league matches because most of the Clubs have not embossed the names of their players at the back of their jerseys.

“If we want to learn, then we have to learn very well and make sure that we do the right thing. How can we say we are premier league Clubs when some basic things that need to be done are overlooked?”

“We all love to watch the Bundesliga, English Premiership, La Liga, Serie A and other leagues across the globe, but we forget to copy and replicate some of the basic things they have done and are still doing to make their leagues attractive.”

“All the Club’s especially those playing in the Premiership need to emboss the names of their players at the back of their jerseys because it helps in identifying the players easily.”

“I have been to the Accra sports stadium many times and I see some individual brilliance from some players, yet I don’t get their names because it’s not written at the back of their jerseys. I then have to go the media guys to get the team sheet to verify.”

“We are happy that DSTV and Supersport have come on board and have been showing some of our matches to the outside world. I think we need to check all these things so that we can advertise our players as well as the league better”, Tony Baffoe mentioned.

Out of the sixteen Clubs in the First Capital Plus League, only a handful of Clubs like Accra Hearts of Oak, Asante Kotoko have the names of their players embossed at the back of their jerseys.
