Ghanaian actor John Dumelo, has released a cautionary video to his fans about some fraudulent elements using his identity on multiple social media platforms.

In a video posted on his official Facebook page the star actor said people are setting up fake accounts under his name to solicit money for his ‘mother’s medical bills’ and other purposes.

Dumelo, said he has only one official/verified fan page on Facebook and that he is not a user on social sites/apps Whatsup, Skype, Viber, Imo.

He urged fans to be very careful and to not send money to anyone using his name on social media sites.

“Those fake guys will take pictures from my Facebook and set up Facebook accounts and they ask you for money for my mom, apparently my mother is sick. They will ask you for money for operation, they will ask you for money for film production” says Dumelo.

Many celebrities including Van Vicker, and Yvonne Nelson, have had to distance themselves from fake accounts on social media sites in the past.
